Community Standards
Code of Conduct
Let's do our part to create a better experience for D&D sessions!
By attending, participating in, organising or supporting a SmilingDMs event, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct. This applies to everyone, including SmilingDMs organisers, staff, volunteers, Dungeon Masters, players, spectators, vendors, sponsors and venue representatives. Everyone is expected to follow the same standards of conduct, regardless of their role, experience or seniority.
Be sure to practice safety and follow the law.
Limit active disagreements during the game. The DM has the final say in all game related matters, and any disputes should be resolved after the session.
Harassment is any unwanted behaviour which humiliates, intimidates, or offends a person, whether directed towards the person or indirectly. Any harassment, discrimination, or slander to any person will not be tolerated. Harassment can encompass many things, both in person and online. The following can be used as examples, but it is not an exhaustive list.
Behaviour or comments that negatively involve gender, age, sexual orientation, appearance, race, disability, religion, or other forms of identity.
Intimidation, aggressive behaviour, stalking, disruptive play at tables, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome attention (sexual or otherwise).
Cyberbullying, unsolicited private messaging of others on any SmilingDMs social platform.
Unsolicited spamming, advertising, referral links, and sale of goods and services will not be tolerated on our channels. If you wish to advertise with us, please contact an Admin to open a discussion.
Be sure to practise good personal hygiene and keep the area clean and sanitary.
Please remain civil and courteous when interacting with one another, and treat each other with due respect.
Please respect the personal space of others and avoid making others uncomfortable.
Please try your best to be punctual for sessions, and inform ahead if you are delayed.
Please refrain from interfering with or disrupting the store's other on-going programmes.
Please respect the DM by giving your full attention during the session. Avoid excessive small talk or engaging with devices that are not related to the session.
Please respect the individual locations' Code of Conduct.
If you have any queries/concerns about or during our events, please feel free to approach our DMs or Staff.
How to Find a Code of Conduct Contact
At each SmilingDMs event, one or more designated SmilingDMs representatives will be available to receive Code of Conduct reports.
The designated representatives may be identified by a clearly marked "SmilingDMs Staff" or "Code of Conduct Contact" badge, lanyard or other visible identifier. Their names or identifying details may also be announced during the event briefing or displayed at the registration desk.
- •
Approach the SmilingDMs registration or administration desk.
- •
Look for a person wearing a SmilingDMs Staff or Code of Conduct Contact identifier.
- •
Ask any organiser, staff member, volunteer or Dungeon Master to help locate the designated representative.
- •
Use the anonymous reporting form available on the SmilingDMs website.
You do not need to report an incident through your Dungeon Master, especially if the report concerns the Dungeon Master or someone at your table. You may approach a designated SmilingDMs representative directly.
If the report concerns a designated representative, you may approach another SmilingDMs organiser or use the anonymous reporting form.
Reporting
If you would like to make an anonymous report, please use the following form .
All reports, via this form or otherwise, shall be kept confidential and no retaliation shall be held against a person who makes a report of an alleged violation.
This information will only be disclosed to decision-making SmilingDMs staff. Responses will be stored only within SmilingDMs' official email account.
Violations
Violations include, but are not limited to harassment, discrimination, personal attacks, unsolicited advertisement and repeated no-shows.
Warnings will be communicated to violators either via email on Warhorn or being taken aside during in-person events. Do take note that for those who persist despite warnings, we may impose temporary and even permanent bans from our regular games and events.
Should you be unable to attend the session after RSVP, we encourage you to cancel your RSVP 3 days in advance. By practicing this, you create an opportunity for other players to join the sessions. DMs put a lot of effort into preparing the game session, so let's show our support by achieving full attendance. Kindly note that 'No-Show' for 2 RSVPs without valid reasons will result in a temporary ban.
This code is intended to be short and concise for ease of reading. SmilingDMs and its locations reserve the right to make any updates and/or changes to this code. We hope to create a place where everyone can comfortably enjoy Adventurers League content. Have fun!
