What to Expect at Your First D&D Session
A simple guide for new players who are about to begin their first campaign. No experience needed!
Starting your first Dungeons & Dragons session can feel overwhelming — but it doesn't have to be. Here's a simple guide to help you arrive prepared and ready to have fun.
You Don't Need to Know the Rules Your Dungeon Master and fellow players are there to help. The most important thing is showing up with a spirit of fun and curiosity.
Character Creation Your DM may have a pre-made character ready for you, or help you create one during the session. Either way, don't worry — it's simpler than it looks.
Dice D&D uses a set of polyhedral dice. If you don't own any, your DM or fellow players will likely have extras to share.
Just Have Fun The most important rule at the table is to enjoy yourself and respect your fellow players. Everything else can be learned along the way.
